Abacus Child Care and Education Centre

Our Centre

  • Abacus Child Care and Education Centre is an employee sponsored centre with shared priority of access between the Department of Finance and Deregulation and The Department of Treasury.  The centre is managed by Communities@Work.
  • We offer care and education from 7.45 am to 6.00 pm, Monday to Friday, for children from birth to school age.
  • The Centre is accredited with a high quality rating through the Australian Government’s National Child Care Accreditation Council. It is also registered for child care benefit and complies with the ACT Children’s Policy and Regulation Standards.
  • The Department has determined Priority Access Guidelines for allocating places to children.

The Abacus Experience
Abacus Child Care and Education Centre offers more than child care – it is a unique learning environment in which qualified and experienced educators encourage a love of learning.

It is a place where relationships between educators, children and families are nurtured and learning and well-being is valued.

Our curriculum reflects the new national, Early Years Learning Framework and is based on theories of play and interest based learning.

We understand the needs of the contemporary family and have a particular focus on providing:

  • a safe, caring and stimulating environment
  • an engaging children’s curriculum
  • nutritious meals
  • fun, physical activity
  • excursions
  • events for families
  • the essential extras, such as nappies.

Meals

  • We provide a nutritionally balanced morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea each day. We can cater for individual dietary requirements and specific needs.
