Casual positions
Casual positions are an important link to maintain our high quality services.
Recruitment of casual positions is extensive involving advertising, interviews, referee reports and work place mentoring and support.
Unlike full-time and part-time employees, casual employees are not generally recruited to specific positions. Rather, they are recruited to a casual pool from which they can be allocated work from time to time.
Casual employees do not accrue any form of leave and are not subject to some employment provisions, such as termination and redundancy rules applicable to full-time and part-time employees. In recognition of these differences, awards and enterprise agreements usually provide for casual employees to be paid the ordinary rate of pay for the classification in which they are engaged plus 25%.
The cost of police checks for casual employees is the responsibility of the employee.
Through our programs casual staff have the opportunity to learn new skills and contribute to the community.
