What is the family-friendly drop-in centre?
A family-friendly drop-in centre exists in the Richardson Early Childhood Centre. This is a space for families in Richardson and the surrounding area to gather, and share parenting experiences in a relaxed atmosphere. Children are most welcome. Mixed model child care including occasional care, permanent part time and long day care is available at the Richardson Early Childhood Centre. Child Care Benefit is available. The program focuses on enhancing the critical periods of brain development in the early years.
What will be happening at the drop-in centre?
Richardson Family Links Program will:
- have a family-friendly drop-in space
- have a family information library and a comfortable space to access this
- be running family focus groups to explore some of the parenting issues that families face
- be providing family education sessions eg: first aid; guiding children's behaviour; toilet training etc
- be providing interest courses for parents/ caregivers eg: do-it-yourself; dance; craft; art; self-help courses etc
- be providing no-cost and low-cost community events eg: fetes; fairs; picnic; sausage sizzle; playgroup in the park
What is the Richardson Family Links Network?
The Richardson Family Links Network is made up of service providers who are interested in working together to ensure better services for families. The Network representatives meet on a monthly basis.
Free parking exists outside the Centre.
