The Value of Volunteers – Dedicated People Making a Difference

Communities@Work’s Volunteer program has a team of over 150 dedicated people who assist us to provide care and valuable support for individuals and families on a regular basis in Tuggeranong and Weston Creek.

Activities include helping people with their shopping, providing transport, home visiting, supporting and mentoring young parents in home management skills, helping with social events such as festivals and expos, providing child care to support parent education groups and assisting with social and respite groups.

The contribution that volunteers make to the community is immeasurable. They are often the only people who change someone’s world for the better and make such a difference. Were it not for the time and effort put in by volunteers, people would often miss out on essential support such as shopping assistance or transport.

Benefits include:-

  • Social events to meet other volunteers
  • The reward of putting your skills and experience to great use
  • Learning new skills and gaining work experience
  • Formal recognition and volunteer awards
  • Meeting and helping interesting people
  • Bi-monthly newsletter
