Our Organisation

Communities@Work is a community-based, not for profit organisation, managed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Our main office is within the Tuggeranong Community Centre and we have another campus at the Weston Creek Community Centre.

Communities@Work was formed in May 2002 as a result of the merger of two community services based in the Tuggeranong and Weston Creek regions.

Communities@Work cares for people of all ages in our community.

• we offer quality child care from birth to teenage years;
• leisure and fun programs for young people;
• practical support for families; and social groups,
• home help and transport for seniors.

Our work includes:

• delivering child care and community services to around 40% of the community across the ACT and surrounding region from 26 locations;
• making more than 140 000 client contacts each year;
• having a paid workforce of around 300 staff and a volunteer workforce of 150;
• having 170 self-employed family day care and in-home carers;
• being a Registered Training Organisation, offering nationally accredited training in children's services studies, and information technology training for seniors and equity groups; and
• working with other organisations and individuals on community development projects and events to strengthen connections between people, foster well being, and celebrate our community's creativity.

Our programs are funded through the payment of fees for service and through contracts with the Australian and ACT governments.
