About the Role

Communities at Work is Canberra's largest Early Education and Care provider, operating numerous Early Childhood Education Centres across Canberra, providing long day care services. Our Early Childhood Education Centres are dedicated to providing a safe, family-friendly environment that fosters children's wellbeing and inspires a love of learning. 

As an Early Childhood Teacher (ECT), your role will be to develop, implement and evaluate an educational program based on contemporary early childhood theory. 

The ECT will maintain a high standard of practice and demonstrate excellent communication skills working within a diverse team. 

This is an important role within our centres and proven leadership skills, energy, and commitment to excellence in early education are a must.

About You

Your knowledge of the National Quality Framework and active support of children's contribution to a play-based learning environment that encourages, and respects children's interests, strengths and abilities will see you do well in this role. 

You will work alongside the tight-knit team, the passionate Children's services manager, educational leadership team and the families to develop an appropriate program for individual children or groups of children in our care. 

Selection Criteria

Essential:

  • Maintain current Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration. 
  • Minimum of Bachelor of Early Childhood Education or working actively towards ECT qualifications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of service standards and quality improvement processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team and promote a productive team culture in a diverse work environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of current early childhood theory and curriculum planning
  • Sound understanding of the Approved Learning Framework- Belonging, Being and Becoming: The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) for 0-5 years.
  • Strong understanding of the National Laws and Regulations.
