Galilee School is looking for a caring and resilient person to lead its student support program. This is a unique and rare opportunity to join Galilee School at an exciting period of its future growth. The Head of Student Support is an important leadership role supporting students with complex needs affecting their education, social, and mental well-being.
As Head of Student Support, you will work closely with the Head of Teaching and Learning to plan and implement case management and support for all students enrolled at Galilee School. You will also work closely with the Principal to shape the strategic direction of the school.
You must be skilled, highly organised and confident. You will also have responsibility for supervising and mentoring our team of youth support workers. You will have the fortitude to support and guide students in positive life choices, while enforcing healthy boundaries. Staff, students and parents will be inspired by your passionate optimism, your confidence to lead in difficult situations and your humility to ask for help when needed.
The position works with a wide range of service providers and stakeholders, often involving picking up the phone and having sensitive and confidential conversations. You'll connect the dots between the classroom, home and community, helping students re-engage with their learning and develop social and emotional skills to enjoy a positive future. You will also have strong, demonstrated experience in a similar or community service area.
- exceptional people skills, especially trauma informed practice
- a current 'Working with Vulnerable People' registration or ability to obtain one quickly
- capacity to support the strategic vision, direction, and philosophy of the organisation
- passion and experience for working with vulnerable, "at-risk" and disadvantaged young people
- Formal qualifications in youth work, community services, and/or counselling
- Relevant experience leading others in a similar context.
