About the Roles
Communities at Work is Canberra's largest Children's Services provider, operating numerous Child Care and Education Centres and Out of School Hours Care services across Canberra. Our services are dedicated to providing safe and nurturing environments that promotes children's wellbeing and inspires a love of learning.
We currently have opportunities for Casual and Part time Before and After School Care educators at two of our Early Childhood Services.
The role of an Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) Educator is to provide quality support to children in before and after school care. The role works alongside a team of educators to ensure the delivery of a high-quality service to families, as well as maintaining strong partnerships with the school.
The role will also provide you with the opportunity to work within our School Holiday Programs, supporting children to enjoy exciting and fun experiences during school holiday breaks.
Working hours are
- between 7am - 9am in the mornings, and from 2pm - 6pm in the afternoons, 5 days per week, and
- between 7.30 - 6pm during school holidays.
Educators working hours vary during operational times.
About the Centres
- Narrabundah Early Childhood Service is located within the Narrabundah Early Childhood School and provides quality care and education for children from birth to 5 years in our Early Childhood Service, as well as OSHC to children from Preschool to Year 2.
- Isabella Plains Early Childhood Service is located within the Isabella Plains Early Childhood School and provides quality care and education for children from birth to 5 years in our Early Childhood Service, as well as OSHC to children from Preschool to Year 2.
Selection Criteria
Essential:
- Hold and maintain current Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration.
- Ability to travel to the location/s.
- Reliable and consistent availability for shifts.
- Must be aged 17 years and above.
- Senior First Aid certificate, or willingness to obtain this certification.

As an Educator, you will
- Prioritise the health and safety of the children in care.
- Support the needs of children which includes, but not limited to, engaging in their play and leisure within an intentional approach to their care and well-being.
- Actively participate in teamwork and support a positive culture in a diverse work environment.
- Contribute to the development of a creative and innovative program for the children to engage within.
