Established and developed in Canberra, Communities@Work is a local organisation that understands local needs. With nearly 40 years of experience, we provide a wide range of services across the entire Australian Capital Territory and also serve clients in the Greater Capital Region.

We deliver services to more than 20,000 people annually with a paid workforce of up to 700 staff, 150 self-employed family day care educators and the passionate commitment of over 300 volunteers. 

Communities@Work delivers a diverse range of programs. This includes our Out of School Hours Care Programs, with 16 programs Canberra wide our Educators specialise in responding to the educational and care needs of all children.

About the role: 

The role of Out of School Hours Care Program Coordinator is to ensure the provision of a quality service that is responsive to the needs of children and families using the service. The Program Coordinator will be required to prepare, implement and evaluate the Out of School Hours Care Program in line with the National Quality Framework. Your strong leadership qualities will be effective to supervise and guide team members. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Comply with the Education and Care National Regulations
  • Lead the daily routine and operations of the program, including staff management, development and maintenance of effective supervision plans
  • Document children's learning and experiences within the program. Guide the development of meaningful play and leisure experiences within the vision of National Quality Framework
  • Work in partnership with the Educational leader to develop the Quality Improvement Plan and guide and mentor educators through the assessment and ratings process
  • Develop and maintain excellent internal and external stakeholder relationships for the benefit of Out of School Hours Care and Communities@Work
  • Represent the Service at relevant meetings, professional development opportunities as guided by the Out of School Hours Care Management
  • Builds and sustains positive relationships with team members and clients
  • Works collaboratively and is an effective team member
  • Understands and responds to different communication styles, and treats people with respect and courtesy
  • Understands diversity and tries to see different perspectives
  • Identifies learning opportunities and understands constructive feedback
  • Display excellence in client service. 

Selection Criteria

Essential: 

  • Maintain current 'Working with Vulnerable People' registration
  • Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or Bachelor Degree in Education and Care [or equivalent] or evidence of actively working towards the qualification
  • 2+ Years' experience Children's Services, particularly in out of school hours care
  • Sound understanding of National Quality Framework and curriculum planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and provide leadership to team members
  • Experience in observing, documenting and reflecting on children's learning and development
  • High level of organisational, written and oral communication skills
  • Understanding and commitment to Work Health and Safety and Safe work practices and Communities@Work vision, Mission and Values
Desirable:
  • Mandatory Reporting Certification
  • Current First Aid Certification
  • Food Safety Certification
