Programs For Seniors

We provide a variety of services and activities for Seniors across Canberra that focus on capacity building, wellness, inclusion, maintaining independence and social participation.

In light of COVID-19, all our seniors centre and group programs and activities have been cancelled until further notice. However, we are continuing to support clients accessing home support, and supporting our seniors through phone check-ins and other remote initiatives.

Social and Recreational Activities for Seniors

Communities@Work_Seniors_Social_Recreational_Programs

Communities@Work offers a variety of programs and activities for seniors across Canberra, including seniors’ centres in Ngunnawal and Holder, in-home services for seniors and a community transport program.

At our seniors’ centres, you will have the opportunity to develop friendships, enjoy fun and interesting activities, and maintain your health and wellness.

Our seniors’ programs and activities support wellness and continued independence to foster social connectedness and good health outcomes for you while you continue to live at home.

Whether you are after some gentle exercises, interesting outings, guest speakers covering a range of topics, arts, crafts, gardening, looking to join a men’s or women’s group, or simply meeting and making new friends, we have something for you.

In-home Care and Community Support

In choosing Communities@Work programs for seniors, in-home services or community transport services, you will experience benefits such as access to the community, better health outcomes, choice for shopping, and your continued access to preferred lifestyles.

One of our popular features has been the Seniors Exercise Zoom Group. The 5-week exercise group commenced over Zoom from Tuesday 26 May. The group regularly met on Tuesdays from 9 am to 10 am.

The exercise group is available to the current clients of Communities@Work Seniors & Transport services. If you’re not an existing client but would like to participate, a referral can be arranged via My Aged Care. Our team can assist with this process.

Praksis, a movement studio, that has been providing regular exercise classes at one of our Seniors Centres, has been leading our Zoom Exercise Group. Find out more about Praksis on their website.

Get in touch with us for more information and to sign up for the Zoom Exercise Group.
