The new jobs released at Galilee School presents a unique opportunity for passionate teachers, educators and student support staff to join the committed team at Communities@Work’s Galilee School, and help shape the learning experiences of vulnerable and disengaged students in the Canberra community. The positions have a combination of immediate start, Term 4 2020 start, and 2021 commencement.

Joining the newly established Senior Secondary College for Galilee will mean enabling students, who otherwise struggle in mainstream school environments, to achieve their ACT Senior Secondary Certificate.

Galilee School offers a responsive and flexible learning program that aims to meet the individual needs of students. It employs a team of highly skilled educators, youth workers and support staff who can support students presenting with a range of learning abilities.  The learning environments provide a range of opportunities for students to engage with their learning and to explore individual interests and passions while upskilling social and emotional capabilities.

The school also provides training, skill development and job-ready support for students transitioning to the workforce or to further educational opportunities. The program provided by Galilee School builds and develops long-term resilience and resourcefulness in the young people attending the school.

The learner-centred, strengths-based, relationship-driven and restorative approach of Galilee School helps students realise their full potential by developing and utilising their unique talents and capabilities. The learning experience provided, aids students to find a sense of purpose and value in themselves as productive and worthwhile members of the community. Students leave with a heightened sense of respect for themselves and for others as well as having increased levels of self-confidence.

Galilee School is a growing registered, independent secondary designed specifically for disengaged and vulnerable young people in years 7-10, currently with plans for expansion to Years 11 and 12, in the ACT and surrounding areas for whom the mainstream schooling environment has struggled to deliver positive learning outcomes.
