Connecting Theory with Practice QA 1

This series will explore a range of early childhood theories and theorists that contribute to the concepts of early learning education and participants will be encouraged to practically apply the theories to their own understanding of the EYLF.

“Contemporary discussions surrounding early childhood curricula are beginning to reflect the idea that there is no one… ‘developmental path’ that can be used to inform decision-making about how best to educate and care for young children.” Instead it is suggested “… that a range of perspectives about children, learning, and development should be considered in relation to the education of young children” (Kessing-Styles and Hedges, 2007, p.7). This series will explore a range of early childhood theories and theorists that contribute to the concepts of early learning education and participants will be encouraged to practically apply the theories to their own understanding of the EYLF.
