Garran Early Learning and Intervention Centre
At Garran Early Learning and Intervention Centre, child-safety and inclusion are at the heart of everything we do.
Supporting wellbeing, confidence and learning for Canberra Region children and families.
As a local not-for-profit organisation, we have a long-standing reputation for supporting families with integrity and care. Children are welcomed into a secure learning environment where safety, wellbeing and belonging come first. Our educators support each child’s social, emotional, and learning development, helping them feel confident and successful.
Early learning and intervention for children with autism (ASD)and global developmental delay (GDD)
Communities at Work, the John James Foundation and Capital Region Community Services are working together to reopen the Garran Early Learning and Intervention Centre.
The centre will support children aged from two to six years with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and global developmental delay (GDD), providing high-quality early childhood education alongside coordinated early intervention support.
The Garran Early Learning and Intervention Centre is expected to reopen as a pilot program in September 2026, initially supporting a limited number of children and families.

How the service will work
The centre’s model will bring early childhood education, developmental support and family assistance together in one coordinated service.
Children will be supported by a multidisciplinary team who will work collaboratively to understand each child’s strengths, needs and developmental goals.
The service will focus on:
- high-quality, inclusive early childhood education and care
- individualised early intervention support
- coordinated planning between families, educators and practitioners
- supporting children’s communication, learning, development and participation
- helping families access practical information, guidance and services
- supporting children to build skills and confidence in a safe and welcoming environment.
Support will be tailored to each child and developed in partnership with their family.
