Spring School Holiday Programs Now Open for Bookings (September’21 Holidays)
Communities@Work offers School Holiday Programs throughout the year during all ACT School Holidays. Our programs focus on fun and delivering a new adventure every day for your child.
Our qualified and reliable educators provide more than just vacation care – they collaborate with children to ensure play, leisure and recreational activities are safe and meaningful. We place each child at the centre of our practice and build respectful and positive relationships with children, families and the community to develop connectedness, confidence and wellbeing.
Our school holiday programs generally include a variety of excursions to fun locations as well as incursions (external entertainment and activity providers conducting activities in-service). We run our holiday programs in several locations across Canberra and the ACT region.
Update 10/09/2021: Due to the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown, we have unfortunately been compelled to cancel excursions and incursions for the upcoming Spring School holidays. Our OSHC team is working hard to develop fun new activities for the holidays that can be safely conducted in-service to ensure a fun-filled holiday program. We will continue to prioritise the health and safety of children, educators, families, and our community, guided by the latest advice from the ACT Government and ACT Health. Please note that we will be unable to release program calendars (daily highlights) for these holidays to ensure flexibility and adaptability during this time.
Update 10/09/2021: Since the Spring School Holiday Programs are all running in-service days, families will be charged at a flat fee of $75 per day (before Child Care Subsidy is applied, if applicable).
The updated daily rate for the Communities@Work school holiday programs are as follows:
$75 for in-servicedays, i.e. days on which educators at the service run activities for the children.
$85 for incursion days, i.e. days on which external providers bring in special activities to the school holiday program service.
$90 for excursiondays, i.e. days on which educators and children visit an external location from the school holiday program location for fun activities.
Our School Holiday Programs run at the following 12 locations across Canberra. All locations are able to cater to children in preschool to year 6, except for Amaroo, which is unable to care for preschool-aged children:
Our programs run from 7:30 am to 6 pm on weekdays. Spring School Holiday Programs run from Monday 20 September 2021 to Friday 1 October 2021.

Your child will need to bring a healthy morning tea, lunch, a hat and a drink bottle. Please note that unfortunately we cannot cook or reheat lunches.
What should my child wear?
Anything that is comfortable and easy to move in. For activities that involve water (specified in the program calendars), we also recommend the child to bring a change of clothes.
Are the activities the same for all age groups?
Each program is different, but we always ensure that all activities are age-appropriate. All our locations are able to cater for children from pre-school to Year 6, except for Amaroo which is unable to care for preschool-aged children.
Communities@Work is working to ensure that we are in the best position to support children, families, clients and our community during the COVID-19 pandemic. We will continue to be guided by the latest regulatory advice from the ACT Government and ACT Health, ensuring the safety of your child is paramount. More information about this can be found on the dedicated COVID-19 page on our website.
