Narrabundah Early Childhood Service
Communities at Work’s Narrabundah Early Childhood Service provides quality care and early education for children from birth to 5 years old through our long day care. With the addition of the OSHC program, children and families experience a continuity of care from the early stages until year 2 as children transition from the school to our program.
About the Centre
Narrabundah Early Childhood Service is located on Ngunnawal land in close proximity to the bustling inner south and the parliamentary triangle of Canberra. We are proudly partnered within the same building as the Narrabundah Early Childhood school which enables a thriving and supportive community to envelop families on their learning journeys.
Acknowledging our connection to the land and its people has provided an organic connection to an embedded nature pedagogy across all age groups. We have a commitment to sustainable and environmental practices that are reflected in our natural spaces both indoors and outdoors.

Why Choose Us
The Narrabundah Early Childhood School is a community hub that also provides health care, pre-and post-natal services and programs such as childcare information sessions, storytelling, community breakfasts, Move and Groove and Paint and Play.
Our educators are skilled, passionate and dedicated to nurturing children’s learning and development by promoting self-confidence, resilience, creativity and imagination.
The strength of our Early Childhood Service lies in our crossover community engagement with the Early Childhood School – for both children and educators. Our natural environment and sustainability projects as well as our mixed-age grouping for children aged three and under enable children to develop positive life skills including social connectedness, environmental affinity, and deep-rooted respect for Reconciliation.
We endeavour to create settings and atmospheres in which children and families can feel comfortable and safe. We believe in forming genuine partnerships with families all across the service, encouraging their involvement in our practices, creating links and ongoing exchange of information for the learning, care and development of all children. We valorise each child’s identity and uniqueness whilst embracing cultural diversity with encouragements of using their home language and traditions.
Through the learning of various cultures, children are able to experience different customs and traditions, setting up the bases of respect and inclusion towards others. A play-based program guides the children’s learning towards a holistic development offering a range of experiences displaying their interests, skills, development and knowledge.
