Throughout July, children and families across Communities at Work participated in our ‘Little Words, Big Worlds’ Literacy Challenge Month, celebrating the magic of early language and storytelling both at home and in care.
From rhyme hunts and book swaps to shared story times and creative expression, the initiative encouraged families to engage in everyday literacy experiences that strengthen communication, confidence, and connection. Educators across our services embraced the challenge with enthusiasm, creating rich environments that inspired curiosity and joy through books and conversation.
We were especially touched by the photos, reflections, and videos shared from children’s home environments, capturing their unique literacy journeys. These moments beautifully demonstrated how even the smallest words can create big worlds of understanding, connection, and belonging.
A heartfelt thank you to all educators, families, and children for making this initiative a true celebration of community, connection, and the power of early literacy.

All children who participated in the challenge will receive their Participation Certificate during our Book Week celebrations this August. We hope this recognition sparks even more excitement for reading and storytelling.
