Community Food Collection Toolkit

Here’s is how to start:
1. Choose how you’d like to collect donations
Traditional community food donation
Collect essential food and household items from our suggested shopping list with your workplace, school, community group, friends, or family. There’s no set theme, just a simple way to support local families.
CANstruction Challenge
Looking for a fun team activity? Create a friendly CANstruction challenge with your workplace, friends, family, or community group. Build creative structures using donated cans and essential items, then donate everything to help local people in need. Learn more about the CANstruction challenge here.

Resources in the Toolkit
1. List of Food to Collect (don't forget gluten-free!)
You can also download our shopping list of recommended food items to collect (pdf).
2. Suggested Promotional Text
Here are some words to help you promote your Community Food Collection. You can, of course, use your own words too!
TEXT:
With the rising cost of living, more local families are struggling to afford everyday essentials and put food on the table.
That’s why we’re running a Community Food Collection to help stock the Communities at Work community pantries, which provide free and low-cost food to local people doing it tough.
If you’re able to help, please bring a donation to [insert collection point] by [insert end date]. Tinned food, pasta, rice, cereal and long-life food are especially needed right now.
Every donation, big or small, helps local families feel supported during difficult times.

3. Graphics
Download these graphics to help you promote your donation drive on your social media and newsletter.
4. Photos
If you’d like to use photos rather than graphics to help promote your food drive or to give people ideas on CANstruction structures, here are some to choose from.
5. Poster
Download the poster to place in your workplace/community space to spread the word about your donation drive and where to bring their donations.
6. Certificate of Appreciation
You might like to thank your main supporters with a certificate of appreciation for contributing to your drive.
7. Our Logos
If you decide to develop your own campaign materials, we’re happy for you to do so! We just ask that you add the Communities at Work logo so that people know who they’re donating to!
Click here to download our logos (png format).
Please contact us at marketing@commsatwork.org if you want the logo in EPS format.
