Intake and Support Officer - Disability Services

About the Role

Working as part of a dynamic and committed team, you will work under the general direction of the Disability Manager to provide program and administrative support to the Disability programs. Communities at Work's Disability Program delivers community support to seniors and people living with a disability in an environment characterised by trust and respect. Being a part of our team means supporting all clients with services that meet individual needs, empowering clients to pursue their own goals and making a difference in their lives.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Promote and provide a positive, professional, and helpful service for clients, visitors, and stakeholders in answering telephone, email, and program enquiries
  • Monitor, record and distribute emails daily
  • Liaise with internal teams and external service providers and stakeholders in a timely manner to ensure consistent information and approaches
  • Undertake purchasing/orders for programs that include food and other resources
  • Work directly with clients when directed to contribute to a person-centered approach
  • Assist with program implementation within the NDIS framework to provide opportunities for Life Education for our clients
  • Assist to develop resources that could include, but are not limited to, home skills, community skills, social skills, work skills, sensory and recreation skills
  • Undertake inspections and checks related to program operations, following service documentation
  • Maintain administrative records
  • Maintain effective record keeping for clients and relevant information on their participation in the program/s
  • Actively engage in and be responsible for the completion of administrative requirements in a timely manner; including reporting, storage of documentation and follow ups

About You

To excel in this role, you will enjoy working in a team environment, in a fast-paced work environment. You will be able to manage your time well, possess excellent communication skills and provide exceptional customer service to clients. You should also be able to effectively manage and prioritise interchangeable program and service tasks, and enter timely and accurate data that contributes to client, program and divisional reporting.

You will also have:

  • Knowledge of customer service experience practices and demonstrated excellent professional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and operate within National Standards relating to disability services.
  • Intermediate computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and database management.
  • Knowledge of, or the capacity to learn, WHS and risk management processes that both are site and person focused.
  • Knowledge of, or the capacity to rapidly acquire awareness of, a person[1]centered approach and the capacity to deliver supports consistent with this approach.
  • Commitment to continuing professional and personal development to ensure the provision of best practice services.
  • Maintain current 'Working with Vulnerable People' registration
  • Maintain current NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module
  • Experience working with people with a disability
