About the Team

Communities at Work's Galilee School is a registered, independent school, designed specifically for disengaged, vulnerable young people in Years 7-12 for whom the mainstream schooling environment has struggled to deliver positive outcomes. Working with the school means becoming a part of our social impact. It means helping our young people navigate complex challenges and building them a better future. It means supporting them in their education, learning and skill-building, and supporting the school in offering an alternative model of education.

About the Role

At Galilee School, we are seeking a suitably qualified, future-focused, and innovative teacher to be a part of our team. As a member of the Teaching and Learning Team you will be working closely to develop and implement lessons and programs in line with the Australian Curriculum of ACT Board of Senior Secondary Studies curriculum and our Student Support Framework. You will work, under the guidance and support of our Head of Teaching and Learning. We are committed to staff continuing professional learning and development to build and support quality teaching.

We are seeking an enthusiastic teacher to join the team of passionate educators who will be delivering our academic program. We believe in the capacity of our young people to find success, even if this has proven illusive to them in other contexts. In partnership with the rest of our school staff and community support our students in their day-to-day studies and activities at Galilee School as they pursue their personal goals and their individualised objectives for-Learning.

Our staff are passionate about supporting young people to succeed in education where they haven't experienced it in the past. Teachers enjoy the opportunity to connect with students in smaller classes (staff: student ratio of approximately 1:5) and with significant support in the classroom as well as from the Student Support Team. This is an opportunity to work in a supportive, collaborative environment and develop meaningful connections with students.
