World Elder Abuse Awareness Day Expo (WEAAD Expo)
We are organising an expo in recognition of the World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, which takes place on June 15th each year and recognises the significance of elder abuse as a public health and human rights issue. The expo will help raise awareness around the significant issue and invites individuals and businesses in our local community to attend.
When: Monday, June 21, 2021
Time: 10 am to 3 pm (all day walk-in)
Panel Discussion: 10.30 am to 12 pm
Where: Weston Creek Community Centre, Parkinson Street, Weston ACT 2611
What: Increase your knowledge around the issue of the abuse of older people, identify services that can help, and show your support for the cause.
For Whom: The expo is primarily for ageing persons in our community. However, anyone is welcome to attend.
Panel Discussion (10.30 am to 12 pm):
The Expo and Panel Discussion will be opened by the Assistant Minister for Seniors, Veterans, Families and Community Services, Emma Davidson. The Panel Discussion will be facilitated by COTA ACT.
Key speakers for the panel include:
- Australian Federal Police
- ACT Human Rights Commission
- ACT Disability, Aged and Carer Advocacy Service (ADACAS)
- Relationships Australia
- Public Trustee and Guardian
Other Information
Free coffee vouchers will be given out on the day (limited availability) to attendees of the expo.
