Schools Tree Day – Isabella Plains Child Care

On the 28th of July, Isabella Plains Child Care and Education Centre teamed up with Bunnings Tuggeranong to take part in Schools Tree Day.

Schools Tree Day is an annual event where thousands of schools across the country do environmental activities and learn about the world around them. From planting bush tucker gardens to creating habitats for wildlife, it’s all about appreciating nature.

Bunnings Tuggeranong showed their support by donating a Bottle Brush tree, 6 Lime Tuff grasses, and 20 seed tubes for the project. Even with a little rain, the team didn’t let it dampen their spirits.

The preschoolers had some amazing helpers, including Kellie, the Director of Children’s Services, Karen, the Senior Manager of Children’s Services, and Grace, the Facilities, and Fleet Manager at Communities at Work. They all rolled up their sleeves and got to work.

While Grace and Kellie worked with a group of preschoolers in the outdoor learning environment, another group teamed up with Michael, the Centre Manager, and Isabella, the Activities Organiser, at Tuggeranong Bunnings Warehouse to plant in the front area. Karen, smartly avoiding getting her hands dirty this time, took on the role of the photographer.

And the results were breathtaking! The children’s involvement in the project made it even more special, teaching them about responsibility and caring for the environment.

Bunnings Tuggeranong kindly donated three bags of books, paint, and paintbrushes to spruce up the Isabella Plains   community library in the main foyer.

The partnership with Bunnings Tuggeranong doesn’t end here. There are many exciting plans, and the team is looking forward to working together in the future.

It’s heartwarming to see communities come together, making a positive impact on the environment and fostering a love for nature in our young ones.
