Ascend Info Session Communities@Work

About this Careers Information Session

Our Ascend Program is an industry-leading traineeship that enables selected candidates to earn while they learn. This means that Ascend trainees gain valuable paid work experience while completing a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (which is the minimum requirement to become an educator in the sector).

Find out more about our Ascend Program here.

Register for the Information Session if:

  • You want to get a job in Early Childhood Education and Care
  • You have no qualifications in the sector
  • You want to earn while you learn (i.e. work and study at the same time)

The information session will also give you a chance to ask any questions so you can make informed decisions regarding your options and career pathways.

Please note that attending the information session is mandatory to begin your application process for the Ascend Program.

When: 19th May 2021, or 27th May 2021 (10 am to 2 pm)

Where: Communities@Work Tuggeranong (Tuggeranong Community Centre – Lakeview Ballroom), 245 Cowlishaw St, Greenway ACT 2900

After receiving the information provided during the session, if you are ready to apply for the program, you must sit for the Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment on the same day. You must pass the LLN if you wish to be considered for the program and start your application process.

The Ascend Program is a sought-after unique program with limited places only. Unfortunately, we will be unable to consider your application for the Ascend Program for the July 2021 intake if you do not attend either of the two information sessions (and/or don’t sit for the LLN).

What We Will Cover

We will discuss your eligibility to enrol into our Ascend Program (earn while you learn), and inform you of what the program entails. You will find out more about completing the steps required to begin your employment with the July 2021 Ascend Intake:

STEP 1: Attend the Information Session & Sit for the LLN Assessment.

STEP 2: If you pass the LLN Assessment, you will be invited to attend an assessment centre where you will be required to visit one of our services to be assessed in your interactions with children.

STEP 3: If successful in an assessment centre, you will be invited to attend an interview with our People, Culture & Wellness (PCW) team.

STEP 4: If successful in your interview, you will be offered employment. If you accept the offer of employment, you will be required to enrol on a Cert III qualification with our RTO under the traineeship model

STEP 5: Begin your employment with us on the 26th July 2021 (full-time 4-5 days a week), while also studying for your qualification (weekly classes on Monday).
