Shoutout to all our educators in Children’s Services

We want to extend a massive THANK YOU to all our educators across our Early Education and Care Centres, Out of School Hours Care, and Family Day Care and In-Home Care.

Thank You Educators Blog Post Communities@Work

Throughout the COVID-19 lockdown in Canberra, all our Children’s Services have been ensuring that they are actively engaged with families who are keeping their children at home. We are incredibly proud of how our teams have adapted to the current situation.

For instance, our Family Day Care educators have made take-home learning packs with age-appropriate games for children. Some of the packs include books, puzzles and games (lent to families), recipes for making play dough and paint from pantry items, scavenger hunt ideas, cubby house making provocations etc.

Our Early Education and Care Centres are using Storypark to share videos of daily stories, songs and games. There has been ‘Spot the Educator’ (a little like Where’s Wally), guess the song with an educator playing a tune on the piano, a zoom disco/dance-off and much more. They have organised zoom group times and arranged zoom chats with children and families one on one.

Our OSHC services (before and after school care) have been challenging children to undertake daily walks with their family and add the kilometres to their fundraising tallies for Camp Australia, sent out quiz sheets, videos of science experiments that children can try with everyday items at home, cooking videos, as well as providing learning and wellbeing packs.

Most of the videos are recorded and then communicated. Some of the experiences are also live but have been recorded and sent out for families and children to access at a time that works for them.

Really, there are never enough words to thank our wonderful educators for all the work they do to help families, especially during COVID and lockdowns. But we certainly tried!

Watch our thank-you-videos below for all our wonderful Family Day Care and In-Home Care, Early Education and Care, and Out of School Hours Care educators, for their incredible support to children, families, and even each other, both in-service and at-home, particularly during these challenging times.

We love your passion, your creativity, your professionalism, your genuine interest in the children. And so do your families, schools, and the broader community!
